2014/2015: United's renaissance and Barcelona's downfall

Like many other football fans, I am impatiently waiting for the next football season to start. A season where we might see one of the strongest Chelsea team in years, a United-team under a new, pretty successful coach who resembles Chelsea's coach a lot. Then you got the title holding team City with all their stars, followed by Arsenal who have recently bought Alexis Sanchez for pretty cheap and Liverpool who is going to compete in the Champions League.

Manchester United recently hired the successful coach Van Gaal, who made a pretty mediocre Holland team 3rd in the World Cup. If Van Gaal and Woodward manage to buy some quality midfielders and defenders we might be in an even more exciting title race than last season's where ultimately City, Chelsea and Liverpool were competing for the title.

Moving over to the Spanish league, Real Madrid have made an excellent signing by signing Kroos. Considering the fact that he is one of the best long range passers in the world and a pretty skillfull midfielder, his transfer fee is pretty cheap. Next they are in for World Cup revelation James Rodriguez, who could make their army of potential supertalents even bigger.

While Real Madrid has been busy with signing new young players, FC Barcelona just sold Cesc Fabregas and possibly Xavi, and signed a certain Uruguayan biter for a very high price tag. Then there came rumors that they are not going to sign any midfielders, which could mean yet another trophyless season for them. The current crop of midfielders isn't really great as it has been in 2009-2011, other than an aging Xavi, a pretty average player in Sergi Roberto, Iniesta and Busquets they don't have many other options left. Well, Song, but anyone who has followed the World Cup and looked how many games he played for FC Barcelona in total can understand that Song will never become a regular starter for FC Barcelona. Then you got Mr tore-his-anus Mascherano who plays rather CB than DM. And as if that was not all, they still haven't bought a new defender. Tough times ahead in Barcelona.

A very exciting season is awaiting us for sure!

Howdy! Now that you took the time to click on my blog, let me tell you what my blog is all about, which is mostly football but also politics and anything that I find important enough to share and write about it.

I myself am a passionate Real Madrid fan, have been following the team for more than 15 years. I am also a regular follower of the English, Spanish but also Turkish league, mostly the best football clubs of these leagues.

Any form of criticism and appreciation is welcome! :)
